Belek is not only a tourist resort but also an important example of the characteristic habitat of the Mediterranean Region. Construction is carried out with care in order to give minimum damage and preserve the natural balance of fauna-floral life. The region is a perfect miracle of nature and Aspendos is one of the most important sightseeing spots. One of the best preserved ancient theatres, the Aspendos has a capacity of 15,000 people and is the region’s best preserved still-standing theatre which is still used today. Perge is an ancient city which was built in 1500 B.C. It is a cultural heritage worth seeing for its high tower, city gates and column-lined road. Another miracle of nature is the Kursunlu (Leaded) Waterfall with its 100 or more bird varities and secret cave which is popular with visitors. During the summer months in Belek, care must be taken against excess heat and humidity. The region is affected by the harsh characteristics of the Mediterranean climate, so old people and children in particular should stay out of the sun during the noon hours. Many hotels here have special programmes for kids on holiday. Holiday villages and Resort Hotels have kids’ clubs which offer the opportunity to holiday together with children without splitting the family. These programmes include many activities for children to enjoy such as food service stations, indoor & outdoor play areas, hobby rooms, nap rooms, international kids’ animations, indoor & outdoor pools, Sea Monster and Super Fun Boat activity stations, giant inflatable climbing frames, two water sleighs between the pools, electronic basketball, football and soccer-tables, electrical games, and sunbathing and games terraces. Belek is one of the most beautiful spots in the south coast which brings together swimming and golf… The region has some of the best facilities for golf lovers and the natural habitat is perfect for relieving stress and enjoying your vacation to your heart’s desire. It also has facilities for all kinds of water sports.

Antalya has unlimited choices of seafood restaurants and bars as well as many modest restaurants along the way providing delicious local dishes… If you would like to enjoy trout dishes then we recommend the restaurants located beside the Belkis stream.

NATURAL LIFE and ENVIRONMENT
Hacettepe University (commissioned by BETUYAB) have carried out studies to identify and catalogue the biological resources found in the area and to evaluate the study results in terms of tourism activities and protection of biological species.

In their written report of 1995, the University stated that National, due to its location and natural beauty, was a very important complementary part of the region. In commending the conservation efforts of National, they further commented:-
"......National, due to their location plans and development arrangements, their philosophy and the respect they show for the environment, are evaluated as forerunners..."

"......the golf course has created a very comfortable natural reservior for the plant and bird species. Thus a living design of the natural profile of the Belek region may be observed.."

"......it was established that numerous vertebrate and invertebrate aqueous organisms live within these wet areas and that the food chain has not been interrupted. This especially shows that no artificial intervention has occured..."

Data collected to date has revealed that, of approximately 450 bird species known in Turkey today, 109 are found in the region and almost all can be
observed within National. Certain of these species are on the verge of extinction while others are in the endangered category. Of particular not and significant scientific find was the breeding of Tyto Alba (hooded owl)

And, as for he future, National management, working in conjunction with the BETUYAB, have determined an action plan which includes:

the setting up "bird watch" stations within the golf course in an effort to facilitate bird observation and to promote awareness appreciation and conservation of the nature;

the creations of man-made nesting areas for birds;

the scientific removalof samples of endangered endemic plants types from their sites in the region and their planting within the grounds of National with appropriate landscaping. Protection and reproduction of endemic plant species will thus be secured.

Guide books on the plant and bird life found in Belek have been produced distributed within the local community and to visitors.

In Belek Tourism Center 574 species of plants, 29 endemic (can only be found in Turkey) plants, and the Serik Pear (Pyrus serikensis) have been detected.

It is as well a bird paradise where 109 different beautiful bird species including the Tyto Alba, a hooded owl which is symbol of Belek region, which can be observed easily during the 12 months of the year.

Our regional beaches are one of the outstanding laying eggs beaches for the aquatic turtles (Caretta caretta).

POLLUTION, WASTE CONTROL, ENVIRONMENT IMPACTS

In the controlling and combating of pets and diseases, by using modern scientific methods, processes have been chosen which are the least harmfu to nature.
For examples control of mosquito larvae is being carried out by completely natural practices. To this end, approximately 450.000 Gambusia affins (mosquito fish) have been placed in all the natural and artificial lakes within the golf course and, as a result, larvae control has archieved a 94,4% success rate.
